The entrance is considered by Chinese to be the "mouth of the chi". This is the place which connects your private space to the outside world, through which the external chi enters your house and travels to the different rooms inside. The size of the entrance should be proportional to the size of your house. An entrance which is too large will allow the chi to escape from your house, while an entrance which is too small will prevent the external chi from entering easily. The entrance should be well lit, clean and uncluttered. |

The front door should not be directly opposite the back door, because this will allow the chi coming into your house to escape quickly out the back without circulating through the other part of the house first. One remedy is to hang crystals, wind-chimes or a pair of bamboo flutes between the back door and the front door prevent the chi from escaping too soon. |
